Baluji Shrivastav

Baluji Shrivastav
Baluji Shrivastav played Sitar and Dilruba on Elephant Dance for the Music Start CD. An Indian Classical musician, Baluji has released 3 international solo albums (ARC music), on sitar dilruba and surbahar. As it has inspired him, Baluji would like Indian classical music to reach many other ears, so as well as performing, Baluji continues to teach sitar, tabla and vocals to a small, dedicated number of students. Baluji has also recorded with popular UK artists such as Massive Attack and Kylie Minogue and recently through the BBC with Oasis. Born in a small village in North India, Baluji's musical talent was soon noticed at his blind school. He chose sitar as his special instrument at an age where the instrument was as large as him! After winning many prizes for his school, while still a boy, he went on to graduate from university with degrees in vocal studies, sitar and tabla. Baluji came to London at a time of great interest in Indian music, and it wasn't long before his playing caught the ears of international record label ARC, with whom he also records with his group Jazz Orient.
