Banyan tree

Elephant is washing in the river by a Banyan Tree.  This fig tree is the national tree of India. Its aerial roots hang down from its branches and plant themselves in the ground, growing into new trunks. It represents eternal life because of its seemingly ever-expanding trunks and plays an important role in Indian myths and legends. The Banyan tree is an essential part of village life as it provides shade for village meetings and merchants selling their wares. The largest Banyan tree is in the Botanical Gardens in Kolkata in India.  It looks more like a forest than a single tree and is said to have the second largest tree canopy in the world.
