Date palm

Date palm
Camel is carrying dates from the date palm tree. One date palm tree can produce 100 kilos of dates in a year. Dates are an important food for travellers because they are very nutritious and packed with energy, containing carbohydrate, fibre, and potassium. In Islam, the Prophet Mohammed encouraged Muslims to break fast at sunset during the month of Ramadan with dates and water. He once said that if a person has some dates in his house then he is not poor. The date palm is one of the oldest trees in the world and is thought to have existed for 10,000 years and is seen as a symbol of fertility by Egyptians.
