Music for Starters is running one-day workshop on the 4th November 2008, focusing on using music to support children with speech and language needs, and children with little or no English. These one-day courses will help practitioners to put across key musical skills and concepts in a fun and engaging way to the very young. Course materials (including a CD of songs sung) are included in the price of the course.

All days will link to the early years foundation stage curriculum. This course would be suitable for anyone with an interest in using music to develop language, communication and interaction with children with any form of speech and language difficulty. This could include Autism, learning and behavioural difficulties and those working with children new to the English language. The course will include singing games and rhymes to support cooperative play and participation. The day also focuses on how to use props and instruments creatively, using music to create routines and security and ideas for developing your own interactive games and songs. The course, which will be taking place at Battersea Arts Centre, costs £110 plus VAT.
