Music & movement training
If you work with young children, the training programmes offered by The Music House for Children may be of interest. If you have enjoyed making music with your children in schools and children’s centres, but felt that you could do much more, training can take your skills up a step. The Music House for Children provides a unique and effective training programme to encourage confident music making, singing and dancing with young children and babies.
The organistion nurtures and encourages family-led music making at home as well as in nursery school’s and children’s centres. Their training is supported by a wide range of different resources collated from world and traditional songs, poems, rhymes and musical storytelling books. Specialist instruments have been commissioned by The Music House for Children to offer an age appropriate bespoke package for use in the nursery setting and in the home.
The organistion works from an open-skills perspective involving several quality methods effectively used in much of Europe, Australia and America. Participants skills and ideas are combined with Kodaly and Dalcroze techniques to retain a consistently fresh approach. Different requirements are also incorporated from early years groups, without compromising the quality of music delivery.
Early years practitioners, musicians and those caring for young children can gain the following skills:
-New skills appropriate to the younger age groups.
-Increased confidence in ability to teach babies and young children.
-New and familiar songs with different ways to engage children musically.
-Linking the recognised methods such as Kodaly and Dalcroze to engage in local practice.
Training can take place either at The Music House's School (based in London, W12 7LJ) or can arranged as an inset training day in schools, nursery schools and children’s centres.
