Rock n Roll pre-school TV series
A new children's television series has launched on the Playhouse Disney channel (available on Sky). The show, which features four Dad's jamming away in their rock band 'Imagination Movers', started on Saturday, September 6th 2008, at 10.15am.
Playhouse Disney recently announced the brand new series for preschoolers and their parents, which stars the popular New Orleans-based music group 'Imagination Movers' - an alternative rock band for preschoolers. The live-action series introduces under fives to the Movers' energetic style of music whilst emphasizing creative problem solving skills. The series features the blue-suited band members (Rich, Scott, Dave and Smitty), as 'everyday brain-stormers' who work hard to solve 'idea emergencies' in their Idea Warehouse, a place of infinite inspiration. Each 30-minute episode features stories and skits as well as five songs presented in music video style performances by the band, bringing rock and roll energy as they solve the problem at hand.
'Imagination Movers' is comprised of Rich Collins, a former journalist and father of four young children; Scott Durbin, a former award-winning teacher and father of two young children; Dave Poche, an architect and father of two young children; and Scott "Smitty" Smith, a New Orleans fire-fighter who was a member of the Katrina search-and-rescue team. Three of the band members lost their homes, as well as their production office, instruments and props to Katrina.
'Imagination Movers' started writing music for their own children and went on to perform nationwide in high-energy, interactive rock/hip-hop concerts. The quartet's funky, catchy songs, which have won over critics, parents and kids alike, are listened to on satellite radio in the USA, where they've already topped the charts.
