This training handbook has been created to deepen early years practitioners' and musicians' understanding of young children and their music making. Ruth Churchill Dower, Director of Isaacs UK, has described 'Tuning in to Children' as "One of the most useful documents produced on working with young children through music."

Tuning in to Children offers a set of guiding principles for early years practitioners and music specialists, who want to collaborate on devising new programmes of activity, or enhance their existing music practice.

Developed by Youth Music, Tuning in to Children offers a framework for planning and implementing a programme of training and CPD (Continuing Professional Development) to deepen early years practitioners' and musicians' understanding of young children and their music making.

Written by early childhood music specialist Nancy Evans, this handbook explores the specific skills required by both practitioner and musician to support young children's learning through music.
