Bookstart Rhymetime Development Project
The Scottish Arts Council's Youth Music Initiative (YMI) and Bookstart Scotland are working in partnership with Youth Music to develop the 'Bookstart Rhymetimes' project with the Bookstart in Scotland programme. The project will increase the number of Bookstart Rhymetime Sessions in Scotland and to provide training for people who are running the sessions. Twelve local authorities are taking part in this project , which is funded by the Scottish Arts Council, Youth Music Initiative and Booktrust. It is hoped that with future funding the project will be able to provide high quality Bookstart Rhymetime Sessions for parents and babies across Scotland.
As part of the project, parents and babies in each of these local authorities will also receive an exciting new CD in the Bookstart Baby Packs called 'Bookstart Baby's Musical Day'. The CD includes newly commissioned songs which represent the diversity of Scotland's culture and which are designed to fit in with certain times in a baby's day.
