Sing Up |
Sing Up is the Music Manifesto's National Singing Programme. It's a programme to make sure that singing is at the heart of every primary school child's life. Singing has the power to change lives and help to build stronger communities - find out more about how your child can get involved.
Getting involved
If your child has just started primary school, the chances are they've done their fair share of singing at home in the bath, or during nursery school sing-a-longs! Sing Up is already happening in lots of schools around the UK and you can find out whether your child's school is involved in Sing Up, by asking the teachers.
Song Bank
This is a great online resource, which you and your little ones can use to get singing. Song Bank is packed with downloadable songs, and can be found on the Sing Up website.
Game pack
You can also download games from the Sing Up website, for you and your children to play. All of the games featured on the website are related to singing and music. Try your luck with the activites and puzzles on Sing Up.
What are the benefits of singing?
Introducing music and singing to children early on in life, can have a really positive effect. A considerable amount of research has been carried out on the positive effects of singing and playing music to babies that are still developing in the womb.
Many parents would agree that music has a soothing effect on their babies both before and after birth. Regularly singing a lullaby during pregnancy for instance, might help to make the first few weeks with your new baby a bit easier. Once little ones have been bitten by the musical bug, there are plenty of things you can do as a family to encourage and nurture the joy of singing in your children throughout their lives.
